The concept of "Rotary" in the Watchung-Warren area began in June of 1961 when a group of local businessmen gathered to discuss establishing a service club in the area. Following the On November 10, 1961, the then-provisional Watchung Rotary club was born with 22 original chartered members. Among the founding members were Lewis Gray of Gray's Florist, George Mauro, then General Manager of the historic Washington House, and Frank Weldon of Weldon Quarry. The original club met every Tuesday at the historic Washington House Inn until it burned down in 1962. After 11 years of service, the Watchung Rotary Club expanded to include Warren, thus forming the Watchung Rotary Club we know today. In 2021, the Watchung Warren Rotary Club will be celebrating its 60th anniversary.
Watchung Warren Rotary Club is dedicated to serving local and international community through Rotary International. Some of the services projects we have taken include, among many other things, sponsoring a family to come to United States, Junior Olympics for children, local Teacher of the Year awards. As a Volunteer Organization, Watchung Warren Rotary Club is full of Individuals who want to help, belong, and grow with their town and community. Through our club, we enact positive change that aren't possible possible as an individual
